Global Recognitions
I feel extremely honoured and appreciative for receiving significant recognition during my life time which boosts my confidence and inspires me to realize my dreams in developing an innovative and creative society where individuals stand the chance to become global players. In line with this, I am very thankful for the people I have come across in life, which definitely helped me. In this journey of a thousand miles that began with a single step of pursing my dreams is today helping me better myself in order to contribute to society and feel good about myself. I believe in core value of recognition is to create positive impacts not only for society but also for myself.
I had an opportunity to visit seven countries, as the UN Ambassador of Peace for the Middle East peace process that includes Jordan, Syria, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Dubai and Bahrain. I had the opportunity to receive an award as an `Outstanding Leader of the World’ by the Chairperson of the UN Leadership Academy, Queen Noor Hussein in 1996. Besides, I have travelled far and wide to various European countries, the Caribean Islands and the United States of America.
One of the critical lessons I’ve learned in life (and it extends beyond the workplace) is the importance of respect. This may seem old-fashioned or trite in the days of, “I got mine, go get yours,” but if you treat people right, you will get the results you want. This is especially true in business. Respect still matters! Great leaders appreciate every job that is done well; it doesn’t matter whether it’s in the personal or professional space. Great leaders also understand that respect isn’t an entitlement linked to a particular job title. They need to respect others before others will respect them.
“Your goal is not to stick to a given schedule at all costs; it’s instead to maintain, at all times, a thoughtful say in what you’re doing with your time going forward—even if those decisions are reworked again and again as the day unfolds.”
“To succeed, you have to produce the absolute best stuff you’re capable of producing—a task that requires depth. A deep life is a good life.”
Leaders work on a spectrum of effectiveness and the continuum varies with the ups and downs of your work’s natural rhythms. When you are in a good place, with available margin to deal with your load, you take a balanced approach to meeting your demands, use your strengths wisely and sustain the capacity to manage well against the challenges of the day. The bottom line is that you can’t lead if you’re lost.
